Originally from Tbilisi, but displaced from Georgia in the earlier 90s due to the Civil War. In 2014, after graduation from VGIK she returned to Tbilisi where she created several documentaries, short fiction and experimental movies. Salomeya participated in various residencies, festivals and exhibitions around the world. She is an AWID member and her artwork was included in 2024 and 2025 feminist calendars. For the Global Feminist Pitch 2023, she created a graphic novel on women in social processes in the 90s in Georgia. This novel was inspired by her mother’s generation and their struggle which is now connected with our generation and current political situation in Georgia. Pari Banu Asgar is a visual and performance artist. Identifying as a transgender artist, she weaves imagery culled from photo archives, art history, film stills, hagiographic icons, and personal photographs to explore themes of identity and gender, as well as tenderness and violence.
The Virgin Seed is a collaborative experimental performative film, which was created by Salomeya Bauer and Pari Banu Asgar in the frame of the “NoBorderland” residency in Tskaltubo, Georgia, 2022. The film aims to highlight the idea of the childhood and parental traumas of those who do not know how to accept their queer child. It is a metaphor for the circle of life.
