BECAUSE OF LOVE: VOLUME 1

Description

Franko B presents the multi-disciplinary live performance, Because of Love: volume 1. The piece represents a major departure in Franko’s practice, moving away from the gallery based tableaux vivants of his previous work.

Drawing upon memories of vivid moments and experiences of art, film and dance from different stages in his life, this piece is about life, childhood, humanity, inhumanity, love and grief. Intimate connections are made between personal memories and lived experiences… experiences that can be mediated by someone else’s voice or art form, or appropriated to become one’s own in a way which is both personal and political.

Franko B, born 1960 in Milan (IT) and based in London is a multi-disciplinary artist who doesn’t separate life from practice. His work situated somewhere between isolation and seduction, benevolence and confrontation, suffering and eroticism, punk and poetry. His concern is to make the unbearable bearable, and provoke the viewer to reconsider his own understanding of beauty and of suffering. He uses his body as a metaphor for social struggle, and embodying notions of the personal, political and poetic. Projecting the confluence of love and pain, Franko B demonstrates that humanity, as a condition, can be reformed.
